Let's play the diagnosis game! 740 T 700 1987

Hello all,

My car died last night, I'll give you the run down of events...

Loaded up car with drum kit and other musical equipment at around 8:00.
Get to the club at 10:00 and while I'm waiting in the car it turns off. I don't think anything of it at the time and leave it alone.

I play and load back up, the car starts fine but then turns off in the parking lot only 3 or 4 minutes later. It hasn't started up again since.

This morning I checked the plugs and wires, everything looks good. I tapped the fuel pump to see if it was that, nothing (sometimes if the pump is bad it will startup if you tap it). I tapped the starter, nothing. The battery is fine and the engine turns but no start.

I'm somewhat low on gas but I've driven it with the needle lower then where it is right now (just before the red), and I can smell gas when I try and start it.

Any ideas? Anyone?

- Neil
