Decided to replace fuel injector seals on my 18 year old car.
I figured, it can’t hurt…Got new seal kits, and put everything
back. Now, injector on cyl number 1, gushes fuel around its base.
Took it out few more times making sure all is well, yet it still
leaks. The kit included new cap to fit the injector tip. It has a
small hole in the middle of it. Injector needle comes through it
and is flush with the top of the cap. I noticed that the old cap had
a little indentation around the hole. The new cap doesn’t have it.
Does this matter ? I’m guessing the fuel is escaping around the base
of the injector, where there are no seals. I can manually turn the injector
shaft. If I blow air through the top, it pushes fuel out of the base.
Why is this, and is this the indication of faulty injector ?
I guess I’ll need to get a new one.
p.s. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it….
