remanufactured or used? 900 1994

The Dealership informs me that my daughter's 1994 940 (103,000 miles) has lost compression on 2 of it's cylinders.They claim the repair can be anything from a new engine to a new head gasket.Do wise heads out there recommend a remanufactured engine or a used one.I get the drift that Volvo engines are not designed to be remanufactured.In the event she needs an engine replacement which do I have installed?
