Rough Cold Idle 200

What factors control the cold idle ('87 245). Mine starts great but idles very rough until it warms up. Then it runs great.


Also, I suspect I'm getting bad gas milage. I won't know for sure until I fix the odometer, but I suspect it is off a bit. I saw in another post that if the car runs cool, that this could be an indicator of running rich (which would also explain the low mpg.) How can I check? the exhaust isn't smoking black or charring up the back of my car or bumper...
