Can a bad battery cause poor throttle response? 900 1991

Hi: Yesterday on the way home to store my 91 940T wgn for the winter all the instrument idiot lights came up except the oil pressure & check engine lights.
It ran fine otherwise.
30 minutes alter after stopping for 15 minutes it won't start. Not enough poop from the battery. I charged it for 5 minutes & it started like normal except for the lights.
Drove it 75 feet & it started running real rough, very poor throttle response in neutral, then it died. Won't start, same low battery charged 5 minutes again & fired right up ran rough but a bit better. Now parked it for the winter.
Put that battery in my winter beater & same low battery problem. Charged it & it worked. Started 5X now. I'm going to buy a new battery anyway.
I also have an anti-freeze leak, I have to find. I can't see how they are related.
Questions:
Can a low/loopy battery affect how the bricks run?
Anyone see a battery do what mine has done? There is no way that charging a flat battery in 5 minutes will top it up enought to fire the starter. So I'm thinking there is a connection problem in the battery.
