A couple questions about a B20 140-160

I've been able to get a few hours once in a while to work on son's 142. It was supposed to be a B20B, but has at least a B20E head. I don't know how deternine if the block is a B20E - or if there's a difference. Aside from making sure there are no leaks at the closed-off injector ports, what do I need to look for that's peculiar to the B20E?

This is a car that the previous owner treated kind of strangely. Everything was "glued" with silicone sealant and some really serious stupid stuff was done. One of the injector ports was leaking so we removed the expansion plugs he used so we could replace them. They were sealed with the ubiqitous red silicone stuff - he must have gotten a deal on a carload of it. My wife came out and asked was the nickel with the hole it it was for. It was one of the "plugs" I had taken from an injector port. The guy had "glued" a nickel over the port with the sealant. Guess which one was leaking. The other ports were closed with real expansion plugs, but he sealed them with the same stuff. I guess I should have wondered when I had the manifold off and there was a bunch of the junk hanging into the intake port for that cylinder. I guess we're lucky it didn't break loose and get into the combustion chamber.

Oh, well, I would appreciate any help you can give on the B20E.
