How long does red wine keep after opening? 900

I know it's not about cars specifically, but it is in my garage. I know we Volvo owners are a sophisticated lot and I was wondering something yesterday. How long after opening if kept sealed and cool will a bottle of Cab. or Merlot keep after opening (not that this is often a factor, just curious)? Will it last longer if refrigerated? I am about to do my intake manifold gasket this weekend, maybe I should buy a box of wine. Thanks guys, Paul
