i have recently moved to the great state of Vermont from california and i realize that rwd volvos (which i own) are not the favorite car here as they are hard to manage in the snow. my volvo owning friends all say that you must get studded snow tires, but some suggest that if i dont do a ton of driving, which i dont now that just a decent set of non studded snow tires will work with some sand bags in the back. although i do plan highway trips and you should always be prepared for any tpe of weather.
this is all new to me so any suggestions will help, paticularly from fellow volvo drivers, sice the attitude around here seem to be that they are deathtraps in the winter. id like to not get studded tires since they seem kind of like a pain, and since the roads are usually plowed anyway...is this overkill? also any suggestions of brands or models that are better than others are greatly appreciated THANKS
