Hi all,
So today, I was driving and encountered yet another setback in the sorry 960 saga. As the car "warms up" the drivetrain develops an unsettling shudder that is very subtle to begin with but transforms into a raucous vibration (under load only) that can be felt in the seats. Also, the car seems to want to be pushed somewhat harder which makes me think *gasp* it's slipping. Trans fluid was changed 5k miles ago and I checked fluid level tonite at midnight when I got home. No weird burnt smell that I could tell and no transmission codes.
So, the $3,000 question is: am I in store for a new transmission? If so, is it any worse than doing an AW70 from a B230FT? Is it at all possible that it's a U-joint or something? I just don't want to wreck the trans if there's something I can do to it without replacing it. The good news is that I could get at that pesky rear main seal, so not all bad. Also, anything to be aware of when buying from a wrecking yard?
Thanks you guys! When I get it back on the road, I'll put a brickboard sticker on it. :-)
