Thinking of adding a semi-permanent fuel pressure guage between the fuel line and the rail? Is this a no-no?

I get fuel to the rail, plugs have spark, but the car will not start. Tonight I will check that my injectors are firing, but if they are then I suspect a fuel pressure problem.
