Intermittant Front Headlights 900 1992

Last week while driving my 92 960 wagon, I switched from high beams back to low beams and the low beams would not come on. When I turned the headlights off completely and back on again, the low beams came back on.

Last night, I turned the headlights on, and no low beams. I switched to high beams and the high beams came on, but when switching back to low beams, no luck. I turned the on/off switch repeatedly, and no low beams. I had to drive home with high beams. All the other lights appear to be working fine, just a low beam problem (so far.) When I got home, I tried going back and forth between on, off, high and low and I did get them to come on occasionally.

I'm taking the car in tomorrow to my trusted Volvo mechanic. Any suggestions, ideas on what's going on?
