Hello, all Volvo enthusiasts!

I conceived a desire to slightly upgrade my old merry Volvo. I decided to relocate the flame trap for better accessibility and future maintenance. The IPD sales some "Flame Trap Relocation Kit". Judging to the picture in their printed catalog, this kit consists of three hoses, flame trap holder and the flame trap itself. So, not a big deal to buy them separately and cheaper from FCP Groton and NAPA Autoparts.
However... 240 Volvos 1981-1987 (like my car) have the flame trap installed in the holder in such a way that it is positioned BEFORE those two hoses (thick and thin) that return oil gases back to the intake. In this case, the oil separator is safely protected from possible backfire. 240 Volvos 1988+ have the flame trap holder where the flame trap is installed BETWEEN thick and thin hoses. Thus (to my understanding), the flow of oil gases thru the thin hose is not protected from possible backfire by the flame trap. Maybe this is because different design of oil separators?
Then a question... How safe is such a "modification"? Is it worth doing? What is gurus' opinion?
