1989 740gl startup problems 700

Usually on the first startup attempt of the day I have a problem. Normally i have no problems starting up however sometimes if I attempt a startup (starter & engine cranking) and it fails any attempt after that within 2 hours is failed. Sounds like a flooding problem? Any advice?
