I have just gotten an '86 760 Turbo wagon back on the road. Some of the work done included a new turbo, cleaning oil out of intercooler, replacing intercooler to throttle body hose, cleaning the throttle body, new alternater, new transmission mount (engine was just about sitting with the distributor against the firewall), new cat and exhaust system, and a good cleaning of the entire engine compartment (there was oil everywhere, especially on the intake side of the engine). The vehicle runs smooth, idles at 750 to 800 rpm. Acceleration is smooth but nothing to brag about. Problem is that on interstate driving I'm only getting around 17 mpg. Sometimes there is the smell of gasoline around the car when it is running or has just been shut off.
