Since I don't have an AMM, is the preheat hose a good thing to keep? 200 1980

A few weeks back, I was making one mistake after another while trying to replace the timing belt, among other things (on my '80 245 DL with an M-46)...

Well, in the process, I removed the preheat metal hose to keep antifreeze from hitting it when I drained the radiator. I've got everything back together, but I didn't put the hose back on.

Now, the car is taking longer to warm up I've noticed... not a whole lot longer, but my car runs so poorly when it's cold that every little bit makes a big difference (another problem I'm trying to solve...).

Since my car doesn't have an AMM, is there any danger in reinstalling this hose? I know that many of us remove the hose to spare the AMM from hot air, but with out an AMM, I don't know of any other harm it could cause...

Thanks as always.
