Power Steering Tensioning bracket attachment on a/c car 200 1986

My 1986 240 DL Station wagon is automatic with a/c and power steering. The p/s mounting bracket that contains the tensioner mechanism has loosened off the nut that holds the bolt in place. Therefore the bolt travels forward toward the p/s belt. I know I can put the bolt back on by removing the a/c compressor below it and threading it back on into its position high on the underside of the pedestal that holds them both to the B230F engine's driver side. But I'd prefer not to drop the a/c compressor if possible and to re-install the nut to the bolt and fasten the bracket back into its proper location. Has anybody ever done this operation without removing the a/c compressor, and would they please let me know what the secret is?
