Brake Booster for B21A, Engine, Zenith-Stromberg 175CD Carb, and BW55 AT 200 200

Anyone,

I wanted to adjust the Valve Clearances, but did not have the Special Tools or the Spare Shims. I was told the Tools cost over $100 and are no longer available. Volvo Dealership offered to do the job for $90. I went with them. They told me my Brake Booster was leaking, which I misunderstood to mean the Master Cylinder. I wasn't listening. I called back, and asked for clarification/verification. But, Volvo did tell me a lie. They said the Silver and Black Brake Boosters have different Mounting (Girling vs ATE), not true.

I removed the Black "Girling" Brake Vacuum Booster. I took it apart, expecting to find a perished seal or torn diaphragm, but no, what I did find was the rear Bakelite Plastic diaphragm mount had a crack in the middle of it. I gutted another Black Girling Brake Booster and salvaged the good parts. I was surprised how much gunk was inside both of them, and both Filters in the rear had disintegrated.

Problem: getting it back together and compressing the big Spring inside is impossible by hand. Any ideas? Any experience? If I can get it back together, then I will have a good original one.

Thanks
