idle at 2000 rpm 700 1985

(740 GLE 1985)I recently cleaned out my throttle body, disconnecting it from the intake manifold. After reassembling everything, the engine has been idling at 2000 rpm. The only problem I can think of is a hose that came loose when I was disconnecting the throttle body. This hose is connected to the big tube connecting the air mass meter and the throttle body (much closer to the throttle body, on the side of the tube facing the rear of the car). I wasn't sure where this hose came loose from, but the only points of attachment nearby seemed to be the nipples on the intake manifold.
Is 2000 rpm the maximum idle rate cutoff? I've read other postings on this website about fast idle and adjusting idle screws, but what would cause my engine to reach the max idle cutoff? Maybe a mistake I could have made reassembling the throttle body? And can anyone tell what hose I'm talking about from my vague description and if that could be related? Any help appreciated.
