240 transmission fluid color 200

I was checking the automatic transmission fluid in my '86 240 yesterday and noticed that it looks brown and dirty. Should I flush it out and put in Mobil 1 synthetic? Guess I should change the transmission filter, too. I was just wondering if it indicates a problem when the fluid turns that color.
