How can I get more GO out of My B230F? 200

I have been driving a 1988 244 DL for about 9 months now.
It's a great car with a straight body and about 253K (My Odometer broke at 244,448). It has a M47 tranny which makes it quite fun. The car came with lowered springs and a custom exhaust.

I have been strongly cautioned against putting a "hot cam" into the car because of it's advanced milage.

What can I do to get this little thing to go faster (short of dropping a turbo engine in)?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
