'New' engine - #4 cylinder fires, no others 900 1993

I replaced the engine in my wife's '93 944t. (Bad temp gauge + cracked radiator = overheated engine) Everything is back together, all the fluids are in and not leaking (so far), but I can't get it to start. As I crank it, I can hear it start to catch, but it won't completely start. I put my hand on the exhaust manifold next to each cylinder and #4 gets warm, but none of the others due. If 1 cylinder is firing, what would cause the others not to?

I've swapped out the cap and rotor and tried new wires. The plugs look fine, and swapping another cylinder's plug into #4 doesn't make any difference.

I'm not sure where to go and the wife is getting antsy to get her car back.

Thanks for any help!
-Eric
