Rear defrost stopped working 200

A little while ago the rear defrost on my wife's '84 245 stopped working. Switch on dash doesn't light up. When I depress the switch I think I can hear a click behind the dash above and to the left. Fuses all intact. Rear window brake light doesn't work either. Wire coming out from the headliner near left tailgate hinge has been somewhat pinched by the repeated closing of the gate but there are no signs that it's broken. (Should this wire be routed some other way?)
Not particularly experienced at troubleshooting electrical. Thanks in advance!
