Oxygen Sensor

I think I've seen every possible opinion on replacing my O2 sensor. But I'm getting ready to order parts...so let's hear it again (PLEASE!)

88 740GLE Wagon, B230F, non-turbo, 135K, no rust problems

Is it really okay to buy a sensor for a 92 Mustang and splice some wires. I'll do it to save 60 bucks if it really is on the level.

I am planning to pull the entire exhaust system for replacement, including the cat and downpipe.

In addition to failing my emissions in Texas, I have noticed exhaust fumes in the car unless it is in motion. I will also investigate the exhaust manifold and replace/repair as necessary. Any other ideas? Broken exhaust manifold studs possible? What is common at this age?

Another question in general...What is a Regina system? How do I know if I have it or the other (what is the other system?) Is this the fuel injection system? Is Regina an aftermarket? I have seen reference to this when reading discussions on O2 sensors.

Any and all info is greatly appreciated.

Greg
