Disabling Blown Fuse Chime 900

1994 940 Turbo

I have a very nasty short on circuit 5. I pulled the overhead light and still have the issue. The fuse blows even before I fully insert it with a big arc. I followed the FAQ and removed the dome light, but the fuse still blew. I found some melted wires on the left vanity visor. I removed the damaged section and the fuse still blow, so I guess this is only the tip of the iceberg.

I bought the car used and it was fused with a 25A fuse vice a 15A fuse!

I have a 400 mile trip tomorrow. Is there a quick way to disable the chime? I'm glad it lets me know I have a blown fuse, but it gets old after a minute or two.

Thanks for your help.

Greg
