replacing fuel hoses on 1993 960 900

There is an intermittent fuel smell on my 960. I have replaced the fuel filler cap, checked the vent hose on the fuel filler and checked the connectors on the charcoal canister. Yesterday I was cleaning the car and suddenly smelled fuel around the fuel filter. I am going to replace the fuel filter and lines.

Is there a specific brand of filter that is better? Autozone carries Deutsch, is this OK?

What diameters are the lines and can I use off the shelf fuel line?
