91 740 with tranny issues 700 1991

I purchased a 1991 740 2.5 weeks ago, last week the tranny went south. All transmission world said they would service it without needing to replace hard parts and they want me to pay $2300.00 to do it. I managed to talk them down to $1800.00 but even this seems high for all soft parts. any suggestions?
