Leather Seats 200 1984

My Dear Friends,

My car is running well and I really don't have much to complain about. The paint looks like hell but I figure, in these troubled times, nobody is gonna mess with a car that looks like crap.

Anyway, I was wondering if any of you thrifty souls had some creative ideas about how to extend the life of leather seats. I am *so* glad that I bought my 240 with leather seats because my previous '80 Volvo had blue cloth seats and the fabric rotted out pretty quickly.

It's been 20 years since Stella II rolled off that ol' Swedish production line and the leather is still holding up quite well. Last summer I rubbed about a pint of hand cream on the leather just because it seemed like the right thing to do at the time. Fortunately, it didn't seem to do any harm.

so what cheap suggestions do y'all have to help preserve the leather? K-Y jelly? Astrolube? Nothing at all? The sun out here in the southwest really does a number on anything left underneath it. That's why I dutifully cover my car with a "Budge" car cover every night before I go to bed.

Suggestions, please?
