Hey all,
Been a long time since i ve been on the brick board..... most of my time lately has been spent on the land cruiser and on it's counterpart board...
Not that i ve been neglecting my volvo...
But the other day my ignition switch finally let go. It was acting up for a couple months. It would sometimes stick in the start position when u started the car, the srs and abs lights wld stay on, then u wld notice the starter still engaged. No plm, just click it back to run, and its just fine...
Except now it won t click back anymore. it s either off, or in start. :) clearly not wanting to drive the car with the starter stuck engaged or the srs and abs systems in a constant test phase, i bought the replacement part from my volvo dealer . (I m quite lucky my toyota dealer and volvo dealer are the same place... i ve been getting "mechanics wholesale" [a.k.a.: I spend thousands of dollars a year here discount] for land cruiser stuff for a couple months now, and they are happy to give me the same discount at the volvo counter)
anyway.... uhhh, how do u get the old one out???? the book i have seems to suggest removing the airbag, steering wheel etc.... but why??? the switch is in the dash, not mouted on the column like they seem to indicate in their little drawing....
Any ideas appreciated,
Fred
P.S.: my volvos abt to hit 200,000 !!!!! and i just got my 100,000 mile badge from Volvo 2 months ago, right in time to apply for a 200,000. LOL!)
