mini tach? 200 1989

I know that on some volvos there are little mini gauges in the blank just to the left of the radio. I think turbos have a boost gauge there, cars with a tach have their clock there etc.

My 240 does not have a tach and I thought it would be nice to have one...is there a wire attached to a sensor allready run up towards my instrument cluster that I could just hook up to an aftermarket tach or would I have to buy and install a sensor and run the wire myself?
