replacing cat converter- special circumstances 700

i had a shop replace my exhaust(cat back) a few months ago. gave the shop all the pieces but they welded it together instead of using the clamps supplied.

the issue is now how to replace the cat myself and not ruining the connecting pipe to the cat. how do i go about removing the weld? would is just be easier to have a shop do it? thanks
