Replacing Heater Hoses 200 1982

At the advice of my mechanic, I am replacing the upper and lower heater hoses that run from the engine through the firewall. They are the original hoses and after 23yrs and 216,000km, are due for replacement. Any issues I need to know or advice to make the job easier? Engine: 1982 B21A, Zenith Carb.
