totaled 240? 2 accidents and 2 insurance companies- how do I come out on top? 200 1990

until a couple months ago, I had silver 1990 240 with black interior in pristine condition. I have put alot of work into it, tons of soundproofing, new blower fan/heater valve, venting, electrical work, etc etc. and over two grand in top end audio equipment. About a month ago, someone backed into my car, damaging the edge of my rear wheel well, and scraping/lightly denting my rear door. the estimates for this were between 1400-2000, which seemed like a lot for the amount of damage. this accident has not been resolved, and hasn't been declared to his insurance provider yet, but he is working with me. yesterday, a jeep wrangler slammed into on icy roads (not my fault) and pushed in the whole drivers side rear corner of the car, breaking the light, and causing the hood to not shut. I'm almost positive that the recent accident totaled the car. ( I was told the car may or may not be totaled by the insurance company because of the first accident- if I go that route). I am taking the car in tomarrow to have it estimated for the most recent accident.

I'm thinking I could probably get the guy from the first accident to just give me 1500 cash or, and then take the check for the totaled car from the second accident. I'm also considering buying the car back (it still runs great) for the price of salvage, if they'll let me, and if its cost-effective. any advice would be great. thanks.
