88 740 turbo losing power when warm

I have an 88 740 turbo that looses power after it is driven 15 – 20 minutes. The problem starts as a hesitation when accelerating, especially when the turbo engages, and progresses to a rough idle and then it stalls. If I let the car cool for 15 minutes, it will start and run rough. If it sits all night, then it runs normally for 15 – 20 minutes.

I drove the car Monday and it was fine but the temperature was -5 def F and I only drove it the 2 miles to and from work so it did not have time to warm up.

Last weekend I had the driver’s side interior apart fixing a hole in the floor board.

I replaced the fuel filter 3 weeks ago (rusted through and leaking). The leaky fuel filter was causing a similar hesitation when accelerating using the turbo. The engine seemed to run so lean that it loss power (but did not stall). When accelerating slowly, the engine did not hesitate.

I replaced the head gasket about 2 months ago.

Any help would be appreciated.
