How to remove front seat carpet to repair floor board? 200 1983

We are about to have a body shop cut out the floorboard on my son's 1983 Volvo 244 GL to get rid of some rust. He will weld in a replacement panel.

he was kind enough to tell us we could save loads of cash if we take the carpet up ourselves. I believe doing this requires removing the seats; maybe some interior panels.

Can someone provide good step-by-step instructions to remove the carpet and have the car driveable to the body shop?
