Well, I gots a few issues with a new to me 1997 960 sedan, 105K.
Latest- an oil leak!
My indy volvo mechanic says it is not rear main seal or any gasket or a clogged flame trap, but that the "sump" is the leak source, we have not yanked it yet, but have isolated it as the source, so not sure if it is cracked or what....as you know it lies down behind the alternator, which interestingly, according to him, this car had an 850 model unit, as it chewed up the new serpentine belt installed due to mis-alignment. Hhhmmm....Maybe an accident occured was suggested, and of course the previous owner has no clue of anyhting and that "the car ran fine for me for many years..riiiight!"
So guys, what dos this "oil sump unit" do and why?
Where does the oil come from and go to?
Why would it be leaking (cracked)?
How much is a new repalcement unit?
Any reply will be greatlt appreciated! Mike
