Working on a neat '84 turbo wagon and one of the punch-list items was the temp guage wasn't working. I grounded the sensor and the guage jumped to hot, so I needed a sensor, right? Took of intake mani and removed the old one, had the new one ready (as per Bentley), but when I removed the old one, NO coolant fluid was present! I put in new one, started car and now the guage works, but shows way past 1/2 way toward hot, not in red tho. I changed thermostat, same reading on guage.
Should I suspect the H2O pump now, even tho there are no leaks? The coolant expansion tank was topped off, but it doesn't seem to be consumed. HELP! 183k on clock, no records.
