Transmission Woes...and a long way from home!!! 200

Hi all,

I've discovered that I've got a bit of a leak in one of the tranny seals. (Can't tell which for sure.)

It's pretty darn cold where I am in northern Canada.(-32 F or so) Every time I start the car, I've been letting it run for 10 minutes or so before I drive off and tranny seems to be a bit sluggish until it warms up. I guess that's all understandable at these temps, but I'll be heading back home to somewhat warmer climes in the next couple of days and I'd rather wait to have the seal replaced until I get back home to my regular backyard mechanic.

A couple of questions for the transmission experts if I could.

The sluggish behaviour I mention above...would I be correct in assuming that's normal at the temperatures mentioned?

With regards to the leak, it appears to be losing a bit of fluid while driving, no fluid on snow where car has been sitting. I've added a quart or so of fluid over the last 600 miles or so. Do any of the 'sealer' additives work? If so which ones? Or would you recommend to stay away from these and just keep on top of the levels until I get home.

I should mention that there has always been fluid on the dipstick when I've checked...it's never been dry, just low.

Cheers and thanks for all your help!
