here's the story...I switched my 1992 965 over to synthetic oil about 2 months ago...everything went well, then I suddenly had problems starting it...it would start, but ran very rough, sometimes dying, but would always start right up again...if I tried to drive it right away, I had NO power...however, if I let it run for 10-15 minutes, it smooths right out and runs fine...no probs with acceleration or anything like that
it ran like this for about 2 weeks...with me staying close to home...and then the check engine light went on
I quit driving it, but as luck would have it, it was due for emissions, so, I warmed it up...took it to the emission inspection station, and it passed with flying colors...yet it still has the same rough start issue
I finally took it to the garage, and the code indicates an air mass meter failure...my question is, do I really need to replace this or could it be that it just needs a cleaning or something?
I was quoted almost $600 (parts and labor) to replace it
any help would be welcome
