This is a continuation of previous posts. Search for posts by me to locate them if you wish (please do).
I have a 1992 964. Motronic 1.8 ignition. Recently changed engines from a 1993 car. Car ran twice (beautifully) on two different days but was followed each time by not starting the next day (or week). Last time the car started I reconnected all of the electrical connection. I tried that again but it didn't work.
Neither the injectors nor the spark plugs are firing.
The ignition (radio supression) and fuel relays on the shock tower are good.
The flywheel sensor reads 258 ohms at 25F.
The ignition test probe on the back of the motors reads 11.58 volts with the key on therefore there is power at the injectors. (?)
The ignition relay connector (what you would plug the relay in to) reads 11.58 volts out of socket #2 (bottom right).
The connector TO the cam sensor (on the back of the head) read 12 volts from the first socket, 5 volts from the second and 0 volts from the third.
Socket #1 for the crank sensor reads 14.59 ohms.
As far as I know all grounds are good and accounted for.
Other clues.
I received 11.58 volts in socket number #4 in the connector going to the fuel relay! This is the opposite of the ignition relay test that I did. Is that right?
What test can I do to insure that the cam sensor is good (on the back of the head- the one with three prongs)?
How does one check continuity (say of a ground for example)?
The up arrow in the dash for the transmission flashes intermittiantly (sp). I will try to start the car once and the light will be flashing and the next time I try to start it it will not be flashing.
OBD socket number two flashes 1-1-1. No codes.
I'd really like your ideas- or a mail away volvo professsional that is available tomorrow between 10 and noon.
