1991 240 DL Blower Moter

I had the AC charged with freon and all was working well, then the blower quit blowing a couple of weeks later. I would work occasionally after that but not at full power. Now it's done. I understand that this is a hugh job for even an experienced do-it-selfer and I won't even try. I have started shopping around for a shop to do it. $600-$700. Cough, cough!

Question: Could there be ANYTHING else that I could check out to see if that might be the problem before I sign over my first born? Switch, relay....
