How do you trust your brick for long distance trip

First, let me wish a happy new year for all the bricksters around the world!
I am a recent brick owner (94 944NA) and have finished most of the zero-out projects from my newly purchased 944 with the help of this great community. Now I am just curious, how do you trust your 10+ yrs old brick with road trips (1000+ miles). When doing a week long road trip with 5 to 6000 miles driving, would you rather rent a car, drive your newer family car, or bring your brick out? With the simple design of 4 cylinder RWD bricks, it seems a properly maintained one will unlikely have any suprise break downs (MAP sensor might be one of them?).
