Wheel locator pegs and resonant vibration 200

Last week I decided to give up on my '89 245 with 210K and get something a little younger. I found a '93 245 with 99K on Craiglist and bought it. (This is my fourth 240. I also own an '88 245 with 90K, and I used to have an '81 244 with over 200K on it)

The '93 is, overall, in very good condition, but there are a few issues:

1) I was swapping some spare wheels and found that some of the older ones do not have the 5th hole for the wheel locator peg (or whatever that thing is called). What is the purpose of this peg? Do I need it? Is the best solution to drill holes in the wheels? remove the pegs? or find other wheels?

2) This is my first 240 with ABS. The brakes are making a strange vibration. Could just be warped rotors, but I wasn't sure if there was something I should know about the ABS system. Could it be causing a pulsing that I feel in the rear of the car, but not in the pedals?

3) There is a resonant vibration in the entire car (not sure if it is suspension or drivetrain) that begins around 50-60 MPH. It seems to increase in intensity and frequency as speed increases above that figure. I had the same wheels on my '89 245 and it didn't vibrate like this. Any ideas?

4) There is a rocker switch for the A/C instead of a twist knob. Is this supposed to light up when I depress it? I don't seem to feel the compressor kicking in (though it is winter). Anything I should check?

Thanks for any advice you can provide!

Michael
