could split vacuum hose on the FPR be a cause of intermittent acceleration lag? 200 1986

I have been still struggling with what I thought I had fixed with a new distributor ... an intermittent lag in acceleration that would be cured by restarting the engine once or twice (then back to normal acceleration).

I found a split vacuum hose going into my Fuel Pressure Regulator and it hasn't happened since (but I've been dealing with this for so long that I am anticipating it will happen soon even after hose replacement).

could a flaky vacuum connection at the FPR cause a loss of acceleration?

thanks,

jack
