Hi
I've been adapting an 84 b23 motor for use on a small sawmill. it's mounted on a trailer. i've got a lot of the wiring sorted out and the motor is running now on the trailer.
have three questions though:
1. three wires go to the alternator - a ground, a heavy wire that delivers charging power to the system, and a smaller wire that goes to the alternator charge light. does anyone know how i can set up the alternator charge light so i have something on the trailer that will allow the alternator to work? i belive that if i just leave this wire unplugged, the alternator won't deliver any power. that seems to be the situation now. can I just hook a small light to the wire and have its ground go to ground at the negative battery terminal?
2.does the knock sensor have to be connected for the motor to run properly?
3. does the coil on the b23 electric system have an outside ballast resistor?
in places in the bentley manual one is mentioned, but i don't seem to have one, and don't remember seeing one anywhere.
thanks for any info on this,
harvey
