There is a noise (sounds like a rod bearing) in the transmission when I start the car and when I accelerate. Loudest it seems when first starting the engine but still present even when warm. The noise increases in frequency with engine RPM. With a mechanic's stethoscope I have determined that I don't pick it up on the engine block or any driven device (alternator, pump, etc) but DO pick it up on the front of the transmission where it couples to the block.
On a 250 mile trip the low end noise seemed to fade away but now I notice a delay in shift to OD/4th. Also when i hit the accelerator the car hessitated abnormally. Don't think that is related unless it is an issue of load.
I also noticed that the noise was only present when the gear shift was in Reverse or a drive gear. No noise was noticed while ideling in park or neutral.
