Is anyone familiar with remanufactured injectors? I want to replace all 6 on my car (273,000 miles on the injectors) and the cost of new ones are steep. Prices range from 110.00 to 150.00 each. I found a place in CA that renews them and alleges to blueprint to original specs. They want 54.00 a piece with my old ones as a core.
The car has been running rich since the rebuild, just barely passing emissions testing, the only common thing is the injectors, the original engine ran rich too. Thinking at that time the cylinder/ring wear was the culprit. Fuel pressure is normal, regulator is new, there are no vacuum leaks. One thing for sure is the sound of the clicking is extremely loud on those babies, really loud, occasionally when starting it appears flooded, when warm, so I imagine one is leaking down a little. There was a recent post about an engine that hydro locked and broke apart from a bad injector so now I am motivated to doing something before it is too late.
I am wondering if buying the remans is the way to go, comes with a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty.
While I buy a national brand of fuel, use a bottle of injector cleaner once a year, I think these things have to wear out and eventually need replacing.
Any and all thoughts welcome, thanks for your time.
