brake failure light 200 1981

my brake failurel ight is on... its buggin me... i have like 1/4" of pad left in the front and more in the back i have plenty of brake fluid and the car WILL brake on a highway... so i am getting really annoyed by this damn light... anyone know what is going on here and how to fix it?
