Constant blown fuse for rear defroster/overdrive 200 1983

Seeing the recent post on a rear window defroster not working, I was hoping to get insight into a problem with our sedan. The rear window was shot out by a BB gun (and subsequent cold air finished the job). We replaced it. The defroster constantly blows the fuse, which is also the fuse for the OD. Is this a common problem? Is there an easy fix?
