i have a car that's for sale on auto trader and last week i receive a call thru an internet relay service.at 1st i'm under the impression it's a deaf person on the other end.the relay service types the other persons message, reads it to you,and your response is typed and read back to them.this is the 1st time i've received a relay call so it was new to me.
red flags started to go off when the other person kept asking for my name, address and phone number, well he already had my phone # or i wouldn't have received a call in the 1st place.i would not relay any personal info and said there will be no transaction of info or car until i speak to an individual and have cash in hand.he/she kept insisting(thru relay service)that they need my address so he can go to the bank and mail me a money order,i keep responding no.
i posted this experience to the message bd. this car pertains to and received this web site---HTTP://trsa.vbad.org/
this is a super low life scam and they're exploiting the people in the deaf community.the operator that relays the the conversation cant do anything about it either due to confidentiality laws.
just passing this along, and i'm not out anything,so beware.the above website goes into detail.
