The SRS light on my 1990 240 sedan stayed lit today after start up. I checked and cleaned the sensor wiring connection, and disconnected the battery for 30 minutes, then ran the car (3 times) as suggested...light still on.
I searched the archives and read the 700/900 FAQ, but didn't find the answer to this question:
Is there a danger of the airbag inadvertently going off now that the SRS light is on? or can I just drive the car as normal?
Also, If I disconnect the battery then the airbag sensor as though I am working on the dash but do not re-connect the sensor and hook up the battery and drive away, is the airbag system considered disabled? I assume doing this would trigger the SRS light to stay on?
Bottom line is, I don't want to spend lots of $$$ to keep the SRS system active because the cost of new components far exceed the cars worth.
thanks!
